Gender: Male
Breed: Russian Tortoise
I've had this angry tortoise since early High school. I got him after my pet rat, Angel, passed away. Normally, I would've gotten another rat or gerbil, however I had recently developed an allergy to rodents (I later developed an allergy to dogs as well). I wanted a pet that I could hold and interact with so a fish wasn't going to cut it. That's when I found Vladimir, he was a sale tortoise at Petsmart and I fell in love instantly. My sister brought me home from the Petsmart that day and I scraped together every penny I had in order to get him. We went back just before the store closed and I got him, some dirt to cover the bottom of his plastic bin (yes, I kept him in a large plastic bin for awhile), and some food.
Now, he has much better accommodations. My father helped me build a 2 floor cage that I designed that had storage underneath. He now moves between his top floor, his basking area, that has a large rock water dish that he can get in and out of. The top floor has outdoor carpet covering the ground and several large rocks for decoration, I also keep his food dishes up there for cleaning purposes. His bottom floor is a mixture of coconut fiber and wood chips, he has several potted plants to much on down there. The bottom floor also features some more rock decorations, a log decoration, and a long wooden arch for him to hide under. He likes to dig on this floor and sleep under the ramp or his wooden arch. My mother calls his new home the "Tortoise Taj Mahal". He truly is the most spoiled tortoise I know.
